Jeff Luhnow updates shortstop position
Tyler Greene won't be an Astro this season.
The Astros informed the 29-year-old infielder that he would not be making the team in 2013.
Greene is out of options, so the team will look to trade him. If they can't, it's likely they'll release him.
General manager Jeff Luhnow said there hasn't been a determination as to who will start the season at shortstop but said Ronny Cedeno, who the club just signed, or Marwin Gonzalez will get the nod.
"At this point, Marwin and Ronny are going to be sharing the time at shortstop for the rest of the spring," Luhnow said. "And we'll let Bo and his staff make the decision about who gets the nod on opening day and what it looks like after that."
Luhnow said that decision will be up to manager Bo Porter.
Greene struggled during Spring Training, hitting .167 with 14 strikeouts and zero RBIs. Greene is a career .224 hitter.
