Isaiah Canaan worked out at Toyota Center
A handful of Rockets players are starting to trickle into Houston for workouts at the Toyota Center as they prepare for training camp that starts in just over five weeks.
Patrick Beverley, Greg Smith. Terrence Jones and Isaiah Canaan, whom the Rockets selected with the No. 34 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Murray State, were among those that worked out on Tuesday.
Canaan missed the entire Summer League in Orlando due to an ankle injury, but he’s ready to get back out on the court.
“I feel great,” Canaan said. “It feels great out there playing and actually getting some contact and running up and down the court, so I'm just thankful I was able to recover and get back healthy.”
Canaan and Beverley were among a group of Rockets that held a mini-camp in Los Angeles in mid-July, and Canaan is looking forward to playing with his new team.
“I'm very excited,” Canaan said. “We got a great group of guys, great teammates. I’ve been building chemistry with them.”
And Canaan and Beverley are trying to learn from each other.
“[Beverley is] Just telling me some of the things they expect, how the offense is ran and really just learning from them on the defensive end of how you can attack the ball and being real physical,” Canaan said. “And if we can aggravate a bunch of guards and give them nightmares, it will be a 1-2 punch.”
