Dynamo vs. Red Bulls preview
Winless since May 8th and facing a loaded stretch of Eastern Conference games, the Houston Dynamo have hit a critical juncture in their 2013 campaign.
And Dominic Kinnear’s players know it.
“We’re starting to feel it a little bit ,” acknowledged defender Corey Ashe on Friday before departing for Sunday’s road tilt against the New York Red Bulls. “It’s time to pick up points. Ties are good, but we need to start getting wins. We need to start climbing the table.”
Snapping a six-game winless streak won’t come easy Sunday, as the Dynamo travel to Red Bull Arena to face a New York team desperate in their own right – Mike Petke’s squad hasn’t won since May 19.
“They’ve got a lot of new guys from last year that have come in and made a good difference for them,” noted midfielder Adam Moffat. “It should be a good game – a good battle. We’ve had some good battles with them the last couple years.”
Further complicating Houston’s chances, is the expected absence of Brad Davis. The Dynamo captain picked up a hamstring injury this week in practice.
“Missing him is going to hurt,” said forward Will Bruin. “That being said we have some guys who have been playing in his absence. I think Boniek [Garcia] might be alright. Hopefully we’ll have guys that can step up and will be able to bring that service in.”
Houston and New York kick off Sunday afternoon at 1 P.M., in a match that will be televised on ESPN2.
