It's not that there wasn't a sense of urgency for the Dynamo before. It's just that now, everything is a little more intense.

The Dynamo will be in Chicago on Wednesday night to take on the Fire in the first game of the MLS playoffs.

"The mood of the locker room, everyone is excited," Calen Carr said. "Training has been really intense the last couple of days, even leading up to the game. There's just a different atmosphere in the locker room. I think it's just an experienced group of guys who have been in the playoffs, won championships and relished this opportunity to represent our city and hopefully bring back a cup."

The Dynamo aren't newcomers to the playoffs. In fact, they've been to the MLS playoffs in six of their first seven seasons. The Dynamo were 0-1-2 against the Fire during the regular season.

"It's definitely a reward to get to the playoffs because you have to go through a grinding season and be one of the top 10 teams or top five teams in your conference," head coach Dominic Kinnear said.

"It is a reward but you're rewarded with even more difficult games. But that's OK. We'd rather be here than not. The guys understand what's at stake here and they're good with it."
