The 2013 schedule for the Houston Dynamo has been set. Now in their eighth season, the 2012 Eastern Conference champions will play 34 games, including 17 regular season home games in addition to at least three CONCACAF Champions League matches.
One of the Dynamo’s 13 nationally televised games will be their season opener on Saturday, March 2 in a nationally televised rematch of the 2012 Eastern Conference Championship when they host D.C. United at 7 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium.
“We faced a very tough schedule in 2012 due to the stadium opening in May,” said Dynamo president Chris Canetti. “This year is a much better situation, and I am very pleased with the schedule. It is more balanced with games spread out over time and fewer mid-summer dates. I think it works well for the team and the fans.”
The Dynamo carry a 25-game regular season home unbeaten streak (30 games in all competitions) into 2013, which is the second-longest streak in league history. They have won the MLS Cup championship in their first two years in Houston (2006 and 2007) and reached the MLS Cup final again the past two seasons, both of which they lost to the LA Galaxy. They have also qualified to represent the United States in international competition six times, including the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League.
