Dynamo Weekly: Preview of Dynamo-Earthquakes

The Houston Dynamo will make a run at Major League Soccer history Saturday when Dominic Kinnear’s side looks to equal Real Salt Lake’s all-time record of 34 straight matches unbeaten at home across all competitions.

Standing in the way are the league’s reigning Supporters’ Shield holder, San Jose – who visit BBVA Compass Stadium having taken seven points from their last three games.

“If they talk about [the streak], it is news to me,” said Kinnear after Houston’s Thursday practice. “The only people that talk about it are the media and when they ask us questions about it we have to answer the question. I’m sure the guys know what is going on, they’re not blind to it.”

“We don’t play trying to keep a streak,” confirmed forward Will Bruin. “We go out to play to win and get three points regardless if we are on the road or at home.”

With a win or tie, Houston would match RSL’s all-time mark for home dominance across all competitions. The Dynamo currently sit at 27 consecutive home matches unbeaten in MLS play, two shy of Salt Lake’s league-record of 29.
