The University of Texas women's volleyball team is headed back to the NCAA Championship match. The No. 3-seeded Longhorns rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat the Michigan Wolverines (25-11, 21-25, 23-25, 25-12, 15-11) in a national semifinal on Thursday. They will play Oregon on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY.
Texas is led by a pair of All-American outside hitters, junior Bailey Webster and sophomore Haley Eckerman, who was also named Big 12 Player of the Year, and Jerritt Elliott who was named 2012 AVCA National Coach of the Year.
This is the Longhorns' fourth trip to the final, winning their only national championship in 1988. Their last trip to the championship match was in 2009 when they lost to No. 1 and undefeated Penn State in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss after jumping out to a 2-0 set lead.
Texas has now won 22 of its last 23 matches.
