Rice guard Max Guercy has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week. Guercy led the Owls with a career-high 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting along with a career-high five assists at Harvard on Saturday. His shooting included sinking all four of his three-point attemps, and he also had one rebound and one steal on the afternoon.
The Arleta, Calif. native is averaging 8.5 points per game with a team-high 42.1 percent from beyond the arc. He also leads the team with 1.8 assists per game.
Memphis’ Joe Jackson was named the league’s Player of the Week.
The Owls return home on Wednesday to open conference play against Southern Miss at 7 p.m.
