If Clear Springs is going to hoist the state championship trophy, the Chargers are still have a lot of heavy lifting to do.
The UIL released the state tournament pairings Monday and Clear Springs, the Region III champion, will square off against unbeaten Duncanville, the No. 1 team in the country according to MaxPreps.com. The game will be the first of the 5A semifinals, scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at the Erwin Center in Austin.
Not that Clear Springs drew the short straw in the state tournament, there really isn’t a team you want to face at this point in the tournament. Pflugerville, in the other semifinal, is also unbeaten and is No. 8 in the latest MaxPreps.com poll. Pflugerville will face Cibolo Steele in the other semifinal at 8:30 p.m.
Clear Springs earned its spot in the tournament by pulling away from Katy Seven Lakes late in the Region III final on Saturday.
