Texans tackle Brennan Williams expects to be ready for spring practices.

While he was home to get his No. 73 jersey retired at Catholic Memorial this weekend, the offensive lineman updated his recovery from microfracture knee surgery.

"I'll be back on the field for spring," Williams said, via ESPN's Brendan C. Hall. "I'm really looking forward to it because I haven't been healthy in, I dunno, two years now. So just to be able to be at my full capacity, be able to go out there and be myself is really exciting."

Williams was taken in the third round of the draft last year but didn't make it through camp. He was placed on IR at final cuts.

Williams, who was drafted out of North Carolina, was supposed to challenge Derek Newton for the starting right tackle spot. But he got hurt and Newton went on to have another disappointing season.
