J.J. Watt didn't have the numbers in 2013 that he had in 2012, but he's still one of the best players in the NFL.

And on their 2014 countdown, NFL Network ranked Watt as the 12th best player in football. He was fifth a year ago.

Watt is the third Texan to make the list after Duane Brown (86th) and Andre Johnson (21st). The final 10 spots on the NFL Network's list have yet to be released.

"He can break a game and not even get a sack," Colts linebacker Robert Mathis said. "He can bat the ball down, he can just make you change your whole blocking scheme. Guys like that, you call them a menace in the trenches."

After a 20.5 sack year in 2012, Watt had 10.5 in 2013 but was arguably as distruptive. He went to his second consecutive Pro Bowl and was a first-team All Pro again too.

"He does everything he can do on a daily basis to make himself better at football, probably right down to what type of toothpaste he uses," former teammate Owen Daniels said. "Like, that's how serious it is for him. I don't see anybody better than him at the position he plays."
