J.J. Watt has become a spokesman for the continuation of the Pro Bowl.

The first-year Pro Bowler had a message for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the first quarter of Sunday's game in Hawaii.

After NFC starting running back Adrian Peterson couldn't handle a handoff from Drew Brees, Watt lined up on offense for the AFC on third down.

Peyton Manning threw his way but the pass was incomplete, with the coverage provided by Charles Tillman. The AFC scored on the next play.

But shortly after that, sideline reporter Michele Tafoya caught up with Watt, who had his pinky finger on his left hand bandaged with blood showing through. Watt also had blood splattered on his jersey.

"I'm not sure," Watt said when asked when he injured his hand, "but I know one thing: they can't say we don't play hard in this game. Hey Commish, we're playing hard."

Goodell has talked about the possible elimination of the Pro Bowl, which has become less and less like a real football game as the years have gone on. Apparently players, at least Watt, want the game to stick around.

Watt did return to the game on the next AFC defensive series.

Watt, in his second year in the league, is in his first Pro Bowl and was also a first-team All-Pro after registering an NFL-leading 20.5 sacks. Watt will likely be named Defensive Player of the Year.
