Rookie third-round pick Sam Montgomery was on the field Sunday morning but wasn’t practicing with the team. In fact, the outside linebacker from LSU was wearing a boot on his right foot.

Montgomery rolled his ankle during the first day of practice on Friday and sat out Saturday. Head coach Gary Kubiak said Montgomery will miss a few days and is “day-to-day.”

Garrett Graham is still out with a virus. Kubiak said Graham, who is on the Non-football Illness list, will be in Reliant Stadium on Sunday evening to start his meetings.

“We’re obviously probably looking at a few days of working him back the right way,” Kubiaks said. “He lost some weight. It’s been a pretty tough go on him but he’ll be fine.”

Graham isn’t the only Texan feeling a little under the weather. Veteran Pro Bowl guard Wade Smith was missing from the morning practice because he too is sick.

“I don’t know if we’ve got something going around or something but he came in sick this morning so we sent him to the doctor,” Kubiak said. “He’s doing better. We’ll know more about him this evening.”

Veteran free agent signing Greg Jones was on the field on Sunday but didn’t practice. The fullback’s missing practice was planned by the team. He’s not injured.

“Day off. I’ve got a plan for him,” Kubiak said. “He’s been playing a long time, doing a lot of banging. We’ve got a routine for him. You’ll probably see him take a morning off about every third or fourth day.”

Defensive lineman Earl Okine was apparently removed from the Active/PUP list. The former Florida Gator was back practicing with the defensive linemen on Sunday.

As far as Arian Foster and Ed Reed … not much new. Both still worked on the side on Sunday morning and caught passes from the Jugs machine after practice went inside. Both players have looked good while working on the side and can be removed from the Active/PUP list at any time during camp.
