Palmer reports after Texans rookie minicamp
Sam Montgomery suffered a back strain during the Texans first rookie camp session Friday morning.
Montgomery, a third-round pick out of LSU, will play outside linebacker for the Texans.
“Just a little back tweak, just a little tweak,” Montgomery said after practice. “They were stretching me out over there (on the sideline). Everything looks good, I’m going to come back out here the second session and work hard. “
Montgomery was asked he would be participating the second session slated for Friday evening.
“Oh yeah, definitely, definitely,” Montgomery said.
Gary Kubiak also commented on Montgomery’s early departure from the team’s first rookie workout.
“His back is bothering him a little bit,” Kubiak said. “He’s having a little tightness in his lower back and sometimes when guys come out and start working on this turn and haven’t been working on turf that can happen. We’ll see if he’s back this afternoon but he’s fine.”
The Texans would prefer the workouts to be outside but the heavy rain on Friday morning forced them inside.
Montgomery had 32.5 tackles for loss in 32 games at LSU.
