The Texans have signed running back Deji Karim. He'll practice with the team on Monday morning.

Karim, 26, has been in the league for three years. He spent last season with the Colts and spent this past training camp with the Texans. He was thought to be the frunt-runner for the third-string running back job but lost out to Cierre Wood.

Karim will play a role on special teams, where the injured Keshawn Martin has struggled some in the return game. But Karim might also have to play a role on offense. The Texans cut Wood last week and Arian Foster (hamstring) and Ben Tate (ribs) are both nursing injuries.

Those injuries also might explain a couple of the other signings. Two of the other four players the Texans are bringing in are running backs: Ray Graham from the practice squad and Dennis Johnson from the Browns' practice squad. Both spent training camp with the Texans.

In addition, the Texans are also signing inside linebackers Tavares Gooden and Jeff Tarpinian.
