The Texans have released wide receiver Kofi Hughes.

They claimed Hughes off waivers in late May after he was waived by the Redskins.

Hughes caught 47 passes for 739 yards and seven touchdowns at Indiana last year but went undrafted. In his college career, he had 132 catches for 1,956 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Hughes had missed several practices but was back with the team on Thursday. With the Hughes cut, the roster is at 89.

The Texans have 11 receivers left on the roster. Andre Johnson won't play in the preseason opener on Saturday.
