The Texans lost their 14th straight game on Sunday, this time falling to the Chargers 16-10.

It was just more of the same for the worst team in football.

“Today was kind of a microcosm of the whole season with some of the things that took place, the bounces of the ball,” quarterback Matt Schaub told reporters. “There are seasons where it all, where they all bounce your way and we've seen some of that, especially last season, where we won some games and got out of some games in overtime and whatnot with the ball ball bouncing our way or coming our way. And this year, it didn't bounce our way as much as it did in the past. And that's the nature of this game. You have to find a way to overcome those things.”

The Texans finished the season 2-9 in one-score games. They won the first two games of the season in one-score games but lost the last nine one-score games they were in.

“It's very disappointing,” interim coach Wade Phillips said. “It's something that I don't think anyone could foresee certainly. We got in a whirlpool and it just never ended.”

The Texans finished the season with a 2-14 record to go along with an NFL-worst minus-20 turnover differential.

“Pretty tough,” J.J. Watt said. “It's the most frustrating season I've ever personally been a part of. I know a lot of guys in this room feel the same way. I'm sure a lot of guys, just like me, are extremely ready to move on. To get to work in the offseason and move on, to put this behind us and never let anything like this happen again.”

After the game on Sunday, along with Schaub, injured tight end Owen Daniels also called the game a “microcosm” of the disastrous season.

The Texans will have a busy offseason. They’ll need to hire a new coach, make the first selection in the draft and will make plenty of other personnel changes too.

“It's just something that you don't ever want to experience again,” Andre Johnson said about the 2013 season. “There was nothing fun about it. It's just something ... like I said, I hope it's something I never have to experience again.”
