While the Texans have some bad injury news – Owen Daniels is reportedly heading to the IR with designation to return – they have another key player on the mend.

Starting right guard Brandon Brooks practiced on Wednesday. He and All-Pro left tackle Duane Brown were limited.

“He practice today and it was positive,” Kubiak said about Brooks, who was replaced in the starting lineup by Ben Jones.

Without Daniels, the team will rely on fourth-year tight end Garrett Graham as the starter. Rookie Ryan Griffin will move up to play in two-tight end sets and the team signed Jake Byrne off the Chargers practice squad. Byrne spent training camp with the Texans.

Wade Smith, Andre Johnson (rest), Keshawn Martin (shoulder), Tim Dobbins (hamstring), Darryl Sharpton (foot/hip) missed practice on Wednesday.
