The Texans have claimed linebacker Paul Hazel off waivers from the Browns.

They also cut linebacker Evan Frierson, who went on IR a couple days before last year's preseason opener. Frierson was an undrafted free agent out of Illinois State.

Hazel, 6-5, 227 pounds, played in limited action in 13 games for the Browns in 2013, recording three tackles.

He went undrafted out of Western Michigan. Hazel first signed with the Jaguars, who released him. He then signed with the Browns.

NFL free agency begins on March 11. Teams may begin talking to agents on March 8.
