The Texans claimed cornerback Justin Rogers off waivers on Wednesday.

Rogers, 25, began the season as a starting cornerback for the Bills. He started the team's first five games. He was a seventh-round pick of the Bills in 2011 out of Richmond.

The addition of Rogers comes at a time when Kareem Jackson (chest) and Elbert Mack (hamstring) both missed practice.

Rogers has one interception, which is the highest number any Texan has; four have one pick.

To make room for Rogers, the Texans waived linebacker D.J. Smith.

The team also made a practice squad move, signing RB Edwin Baker from Michigan State. They released TE Nathan Overbay.
