Brady responsible for Reed's injury?
Ed Reed feels that Tom Brady might have had something to do with him needing offseason hip surgery.
Reed addressed the media after the Texans concluded the first day of their three day minicamp. Reed isn’t participating and is currently rehabbing after undergoing hip surgery seven weeks ago.
Reed was asked if he had any idea when the injury could have occurred.
“If I go back to it man, the only play I can look at is when I got kicked by a certain quarterback,” Reed said with a smile.
Reed was asked if that quarterback was in fact Tom Brady and Reed replied, “yeah man.”
Brady kicked Reed while sliding to the ground during the AFC title game last season. Brady was later fined $10,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness.
“You know it happened, and Brady called me afterwards and apologized, but that’s neither here nor there. What happened happened and we’re moving forward."
Reed went on to use the injury, possibly sustained on the kick from Brady, to elaborate on his ability to play through pain and his character as a player.
“Even then I played in the Super Bowl and you saw what happened there. And even then I had two MCL sprains, a second degree one in my left (knee) that happened in the Super Bowl in the first quarter and played through that. So if you got any questions, I think that can answer your questions about my heart and how I play and how I work.”
