It's no surprise, but Ed Reed has officially been removed from the PUP list.

On Friday, head coach Gary Kubiak said the team will probably make a decision about Ed Reed’s availability for the Week 1 opener on Monday or Tuesday.

With that decision looming, it was obvious Reed would be removed from the PUP list, which would have made him miss at least the first six weeks of the season.

“He’ll be back (Saturday) and we’re hoping to do some field drills on Monday and Tuesday with our extra days, with him, with (head trainer Geoff Kaplan),” Kubiak said on Friday. “So we’ll probably make a quick decision early in the week, Monday or Tuesday on his availability for San Diego. But we’re sitting here hoping and we’ll see how that goes.”

Reed, 34, had arthroscopic hip surgery in April and hasn’t been able to practice with the team. If Reed can't play in the opener, Shiloh Keo would start.
