This week, Texans reporter Dave Zangaro will take a look at five candidates who might have a chance to break out in 2014. We've already looked at Ryan Griffin and Brandon Brooks. Up now, DeVier Posey.

2013 stats: 15 catches, 155 yards, zero touchdowns

Contract status: Signed through 2015

A look back at 2013: Posey came back from an Achilles injury he suffered in the final playoff game of his rookie season. He ended up catching just 15 passes and still doesn’t have a regular season touchdown. Posey’s best game came against Arizona, when he caught three passes for 34 yards.

It wasn’t much of a 2013 for the former third-round pick but he was recovering from a major injury.

Outlook for 2014: Posey just wasn’t himself last year but is still very talented. As long and he’s healthy, he gives the Texans a very good option. The top two receiver positions are set: Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins own those. But Keshawn Martin hasn’t done anything to solidify his spot at the third receiver. Sure, Posey seems better suited to play outside but if he offers the Texans a better option inside, he would be happy to do it to get some playing time. He has more speed than some other receivers too; he ran a 4.5 in the 40 before he was drafted.

Prediction for 2014: 25 catches, 280 yards, two touchdowns. He’ll have a better season, there just aren’t a ton of footballs to go around.
