The Texans will play the third preseason game with two different starting defensive ends. Antonio Smith is suspended and J.J. Watt has been getting eased into the preseason.

That means that Jared Crick and Tim Jamison are the starting defensive ends for Sunday’s game against the Saints.

Willie Jefferson will get the start in place of Whitney Mercilus (hamstring). Justin Tuggle had been starting in Mercilus’ place. Jefferson is an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin.

On offense, Ben Jones will start for Wade Smith (knee) again. Lestar Jean will start for DeAndre Hopkins (concussion) and Ben Tate will start for Arian Foster (back).

The following players have been ruled out for Sunday’s game: Hopkins, DeVier Posey, Ed Reed (PUP), Eddie Pleasant, Mercilus, David Hunter, Wade Smith, Antonio Smith.
