In our CSN Pick Per Day Mock Draft, James Palmer, Jason Passehl and Dave Zangaro go pick by pick to figure out the first round.

31. Broncos: LB Ryan Shazier

Aside from attending the greatest university in the nation, the Butkus Award finalist led the Big Ten in tackles and tackles for loss for The Ohio State University.

He might be a bit undersized (6-1, 237 pounds) and the dilemma will be if he can still run sideline to sideline the way he does if he puts on weight. Shazier is an athlete that makes plays against the run and the pass and finds ways to split gaps as well as find another gear while chasing down ball carriers the open field.

He ran an unofficial sub 4.4 40 at his pro day. Compare that with 144 tackles last season (third in the nation) and 23.5 tackles for loss (tied for second in nation) he’s a rare talent. The kicker is he doesn’t have to leave the field on third down. If he develops mentally at the next level and can play just as fast a few pounds heavier, this could be a steal.
