The New England Patriots have signed former Texan Cierre Wood to their practice squad.

Wood was released along with fellow rookies Sam Montgomery and Willie Jefferson earlier this season for a violation of team rules. The other two remain unsigned.

Wood, 22, was signed by the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. He beat out Dennis Johnson and Deji Karim for the third running back spot out of camp. He had three carries for nine yards as a Texan.

The Patriots have also given a home to Texans' sixth-round pick Chris Jones, who went to the Patriots after he was waived by the Texans and then the Buccaneers.
