Derek Newton missed practice again on Saturday and has officially been ruled out for Monday's game against the Patriots.

Newton, who missed last week's game with a knee injury, returned to practice on Thursday but missed Friday.

For the second straight week, Ryan Harris will start at right tackle for the Texans.

In addition to Newton, linebacker Brooks Reed (groin) was also ruled out. Reed still has a few more weeks to recover fully.

As far as the other injuries on the team, the Texans are taking a wait-and-see approach but head coach Gary Kubiak seemed optimistic about corner Johnathan Joseph and linebacker Bradie James. Cornerback Alan Ball (toe) didn't practice. Kubiak said Ball could play without practicing but if he can't, newcomer Stanford Routt will play.

"So other than that, we’ve got game-time decisions with all those guys that had went through practice fine," he said. "Y’all can ask me about each one, but J-Joe should be fine to go. Bradie should be fine to go. Garrett (Graham) still has one more passing of the test for concussion protocol, so we have until Monday for that."

Earlier this week, both James and Joseph said they were definitely playing against the Pats on Monday night.
