Gary Kubiak was at Reliant Stadium and talked to his team on Monday but no decision about if he’ll coach on Sunday had been made by the time interim coach Wade Phillips spoke to the media at 3:30 p.m.

“I really don’t know,” Phillips said. “Again, it’s up to what the doctors say about Gary. Obviously, if he can come back, then I won’t be (interim head coach). If he can’t, for whatever reason or if they don’t think he’s quite ready yet, then I’ll be ready to go.”

The Texans host the Raiders at Reliant Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Phillips said Kubiak talked to the team about the loss to the Cardinals and told the players that he missed being with the team. Kubiak will be around the Texans this week in a limited fashion, Phillips said.

“It’d be awesome,” Duane Brown said about the possibility of Kubiak coaching this week. “(He’s) our coach, has been for a long time. I thought Wade did a great job, stepped in last week. But having coach Kubiak would be great. It was great to see him today and hopefully he’ll be back throughout the week.”

Kubiak had a mini-stroke at halftime during the Colts game at Reliant Stadium two weeks ago. He made a quick visit with his team at the end of last week but was unable to return to work until Monday morning and even then, did so in limited fashion.

“It felt good,” punter Shane Lechler said about seeing Kubiak on Monday. “When he walked through the door, I didn’t know it was going to be here. When he walked to the door, it was like ‘aah.’ Not that Wade didn’t do a good job but it was good to see your leader there. Gary’s a professional and I understand it has to be tough for him to be away.”
