For the past two games, since returning from his mini-stroke, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak has coached from the press box.

But he’s hoping this week will be different at home against the Patriots on Sunday.

“I have every intention of being on the field,” said Kubiak, who has been in the press box because of doctor’s orders.

“I hope so,” he said. “I think I have probably a better chance than I had last weekend. That’s the way I’d answer it right now.”

Kubiak is the main offensive play-caller for the team. For the past two weeks, he has relayed his calls to quarterbacks coach Karl Dorrell on the sideline.

The Texans have lost both games since Kubiak’s return and are 2-9 on the season.
