Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital in an ambulance after collapsing following the first half of the Texans' matchup against the Colts on Sunday Night Football.

According to the Texans, Kubiak did not suffer a heart attack.

Kubiak, 52, was conscious and with his family. He was taken off the field on a stretcher after collapsing near the sideline around the 25-yard line. He was immediately surrounded by medical personnel.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips took over head coaching duties on the field, while offensive coordinator Rick Dennison took over play-calling responsibilities.

The very loud stadium became very quiet when fans realized the situation. The Texans had a 21-3 lead at halftime. They lost 27-24. The team didn't use their coach's condition as an excuse for the loss.
