Case Keenum started eight games in 2013 and didn’t win any of them.

But the University of Houston product says last season made him a better quarterback and he’s looking forward to working with new head coach Bill O’Brien, who is called a quarterback guru by many.

“It's very exciting just to see the list of guys he's coached and the success they've had,” Keenum said when a CSN camera caught up with him at an autograph signing on Sunday. “I'm excited to learn a new offense and a new system and get ready to go.”

Keenum, 25, said he’s met with O’Brien and the two have chatted a little. “Seems like a great guy, a family guy,” Keenum said. “That's obviously very important to him. And he's obviously ready to come in and get to work and win some ballgames and I'm excited about that.”

The expectation from many is that the Texans will use their No. 1-overall pick in the draft to take a quarterback. That would be bad for Keenum, who had a chance to win the future quarterback job last season but struggled.

And Keenum knows the talk around the draft has been about the Texans’ taking a quarterback. He just tries not to listen.

“I've gotten really good at ignoring a lot of what you guys say. Don't take offense to that,” he said smiling. “But I'm probably not the audience you guys are looking for. It is what it is. I've been battling my whole life, no matter what it is. That's how it is and competition makes you better. I'm competing against myself right now in the offseason and I'm gonna look forward to getting out there and competing again when it comes time for spring OTAs.”
