HUMBLE, Texas -- Johnathan Joseph and Owen Daniels are in a similar situation this offseason. With big salary cap numbers attached to their names, they could become cap casualties.

But both would like to remain in Houston. And on Monday at Andre Johnson’s charity golf tournament at the Golf Club of Houston, both said they would be willing to restructure their contracts if asked. Both also said they haven’t been approached yet.

“Yeah, I’m willing to restructure,” said Daniels, who added that he is completely healthy after a fractured leg ended his 2013 season early. “Honestly, I think I have some more years in the tank and not a lot of tread off my tires last year so I think I have some more in me and hopefully they can be here in Houston.”

Daniels, 31, has been with the Texans for all eight of his seasons in the NFL. He has been to the Pro Bowl twice. Daniels is in the final year of his contract. His base salary in 2014 is $4.5 million and his cap hit is $6.25 million.

“You like to know who you’re going to be working with and what team you’re going to be helping,” Daniels said. “Obviously, I’d like to be here and finish out my contract and I feel like I deserve that. I’m looking forward to having that opportunity.”

Joseph has two years left on his deal. His base salary is $7.5 million in 2014 and $8.5 million in 2015, with cap hits of $11.25 and $12.25 respectively. The Texans can save $3.75 million against the cap by cutting him or they can save $7.5 million against the cap if they cut him with a post-June 1 designation, which would carry $3.75 million of dead money to 2015.

“Anyway I can help the team, obviously, I’m all for helping the team,” Joseph said of a possible restructure. “It’s for the team, obviously they haven’t approached me but it’s something that we can talk about if they did. But for right now, I haven’t heard anything.”

Joseph, 29, is still recovering from toe surgery he had in the offseason. He said he’ll be healthy by the time OTAs roll around in the spring but isn't sure if the Texans will let him participate.
