Andre Johnson on trying to recruit Chad Johnson
Andre Johnson has been doing his best to recruit Ed Reed to the Houston Texans, but that’s not the only big name Johnson has been talking to about possibly playing with in Houston.
Johnson told reporters Friday afternoon that he has been talking to former Dolphins' receiver Chad Johnson who was cut before the end of training camp last season.
“Yeah I’ve talked to him (Chad Johnson) about it,” Johnson said. “He’s talked about playing with me also.”
When asked if he’s set up any meeting with Johnson and the Texans, Andre smiled and added that he can only do so much as put his two cents in.
“I haven’t set up any meetings,” Johnson said. “I can put a few words in but that’s not my call.”
Chad Johnson has been working on a return to the NFL, according to Andre Johnson.
“Chad’s been working out, he’s learned a lot about himself,” Andre said. “He’s learned a lot about himself through some of the things he’s been through. I think he’ll get another opportunity and I think he’ll be very successful if he can get back to the Chad that we are used to seeing.”
Chad Johnson is a six-time Pro Bowler and a two-time First-Team All-Pro with over 11,000 career receiving yards and 67 touchdowns. His last season was with the Patriots; he had just 15 catches for 276 yards and one touchdown.
