J.J. Watt on SI Cover: 'It's surreal'
Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has been a beast in the first half of the Texans' season, leading their third-ranked defense with 9.5 sacks (leads the NFL), 52 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hits, 10 passed defended, and two fumble recoveries.
And now he is on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
“When I was kid, we would go to Disney World and you do those photos where you put your face on the SI cover," Watt said. "Now my face is actually on the SI cover. It’s pretty cool. It’s surreal. It’s an honor. It’s just one of those things you dream about as a kid. It’s one of those things that you grow up looking at the cover and imagining yourself on the cover. To be on the cover, it’s very, very cool.”
Luckily, he doesn't believe in the SI cover jinx.
“No, I believe hard works cures everything," Watt said. "I don’t believe in jinxes. I don’t believe in sophomore slumps. I don’t believe in any of that. I believe if you work hard and you do things the right way you’ll be just fine.”
