Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson will be free agent after the 2014 season, but where he’ll play in 2015 is something that’s not on his mind.
“For me right now, I’m definitely not placing any emphasis on contract talks or anything like that,” Jackson said during a youth football camp on Friday.
Jackson, who was the 20th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, said during OTAs that there hadn’t been any discussion between his representation and the Texans about a contract.
Jackson, who said he enjoys living in the city of Houston, is focused on the 2014 season under new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, his third coordinator during this short NFL career.
“My thing is to just be ready for this season and control what I can control," he said. "And that’s going out and putting my best foot forward and being a piece of the puzzle that could defiantly help this team.”
The Texans' other starting cornerback, Johnathan Joseph, is signed through the 2015 season and will have a cap hit over $12 million that season.
