Texans starting cornerback Kareem Jackson (chest) wasn’t able to practice on Wednesday as the team is preparing to face the Jaguars on Sunday.

Jackson was injured against the Cardinals and, after not practicing last week, was unable to play against the Raiders. In Jackson’s absence, Brice McCain started the game and Brandon Harris also played outside.

Head coach Gary Kubiak was unsure about Jackson’s chances to play on Sunday. He said there was progress this weekend and Jackson was able to run on the field today but wasn’t able to practice.

“Whether we can get there, we’ll have to see,” Kubiak said.

J.J. Watt missed practice with a sore back but Kubiak expects him to practice Thursday. DeAndre Hopkins is sick, so he didn’t practice.

Wade Smith (knee) and Darryl Sharpton (toe) missed practice but that’s been their usual deal on Wednesday. Mike Mohamed is still out with a hamstring injury. Jawanza Starling and Elbert Mack also missed practice.

Joe Mays, who missed last week’s game, was back at practice Wednesday and Kubiak said “all indications are that he’ll be back this week.”

Ben Tate took his normal Wednesay load at practice. He’s dealing with cracked ribs.
