Kareem Jackson has missed two straight games but has a chance to be back for this week’s upcoming game against the Patriots at Reliant Stadium.

“I think Kareem will do everything he possibly can to play this week,” head coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday. “But I think it’s still day-to-day.”

In Jackson’s place, Brice McCain has made two starts and Brandon Jackson has seen more playing time.

Jackson has a fracture in his first rib that he suffered making a tackle in the first half against the Cardinals.

Owen Daniels, who is on the IR with designation to return with a non-displace fibula fracture, can resume practicing if he’s ready this week. This week marks six weeks, which is the minimal amount of time allowed before a player on the designated IR can practice. Daniels would be eligible to return for the Thursday night game against the Jaguars.

Kubiak said when Daniels started working out, there was some soreness but the veteran tight end has been doing better. Daniels worked “pretty hard” on Monday.

“He’s real close,” Kubiak said. “But we’ll see how things work out but he has improved over the course of last week.”
