Daniels and Cody both game time decisions
Owen Daniels missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday.
The Texans’ tight end is suffering from a hip injury. Kubiak said the injury is somewhat like a bad hip pointer. Daniels is moving around better but is still day-to-day.
“Like I said yesterday, Owen is very capable of playing without practicing,” Kubiak said. “But at the same time, he’s missed two days of practice and we have to get him back the right way.”
Shaun Cody missed practice again. CSNHouston confirmed a report that Cody has broken ribs. On Thursday, Kubiak said Cody had a procedure related to the injury but wouldn’t get into specifics.
“We expect him back,” Kubiak said. “Is that going to be this week? We don’t know. I would say that he and OD are in the same category as we move forward.”
When asked if Cody had a punctured lung, which was reported by the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday, Kubiak said, “I’m not a doctor.”
Ben Tate also missed practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury that predates the bye week.
Kevin Walter, who missed practice on Wednesday, was back on Thursday and did more than Kubiak thought he would do.
Linebacker Darryl Sharpton, who practiced for the first time in nearly a year on Wednesday, was at it again on Thursday. Kubiak said he wanted to see Sharpton in pads but the Texans didn’t put them on for Thursday’s practice.
“To say that he’s ready to go this week,” Kubiak said. “I don’t think we’re there yet.”
