First-rounder DeAndre Hopkins has reached Phase 4 of the NFL’s five-phase post-concussion protocol and head coach Gary Kubiak said Hopkins could be cleared on Wednesday.

Kubiak said he thinks there is a “good chance” Hopkins plays in the final preseason game on Thursday but said it will ultimately be up to the doctors.

DeVier Posey will play against the Cowboys for about 12 plays. Posey recovered from an Achilles tear he suffered in the playoff loss to the Patriots last January. This will be his first game action since.

Whitney Mercilus didn’t practice on Tuesday but worked harder than the rest of the team on a side field. Mercilus won't play on Thursday but should be ready for the opener on Sept. 9.

Rookie defensive lineman Chris Jones (calf) will play on Thursday against the Cowboys. It will be an important game for the rookie sixth-round pick.
