Ed Reed will make his return to Baltimore on Sunday. We have yet to learn if he’ll play in the game; he looks to be a game-time decision.

But what we do know is that the reunion with Reed and his former team will be an emotional one.

“They say that still waters run deep. Ed’s soul runs deep,” said Ravens coach John Harbaugh in a conference call with Houston reporters on Wednesday morning. “He’s a thoughtful, introspective person. I feel like when you get to know Ed, you become friends with Ed, you get to share a connection on kind of a deep level. And there’s a lot of opportunities to talk about a lot of things that transcend football, the smaller things in life. I really treasure that part of our relationship.”

Reed, 35, might not get to play in Sunday’s game because of a hip injury. He had surgery in April and still hasn’t played a game as a Texans. Harbaugh was asked if the Ravens, during free agency, were aware that Reed had a hip injury that would force him to miss games.

“Well, Ed’s had a hip issue for four years that we dealt with,” Harbaugh said.

Reed spent 11 seasons with the Ravens. Nine of those seasons were Pro Bowl years. Last season ended with a Super Bowl victory.

“I’m used to seeing him across from me but it will be different, you know, being that he’s in a different uniform,” Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco said. “It’ll definitely be a little weird to see him in a Texans uniform.”
