Arian Foster has been ruled out for Sunday’s game because of a back injury.

Interim coach Wade Phillips said Foster has seen more than one specialist for his back. And for the third straight day on Friday, Foster was not able to practice.

Foster also sat out on Wednesday and Thursday. He left last Sunday’s game after one series because of his back injury. He had a hamstring injury leading into the game against the Colts.

Ben Tate, his backup, will start on Sunday but will do so with four cracked ribs. He was able to play through the pain against the Colts.

Dennis Johnson, Deji Karim and Ray Graham are the other running backs on the roster. Johnson carried the ball eight times in his NFL debut on Sunday. Phillips said Karim is likely the next running back up after Johnson.
