Owen Daniels will be eligible to return for the Texans’ Thursday night game against the Jaguars in a week, but the veteran tight end isn’t sure if he’ll be ready.

Daniels, who is on Injured Reserve with designation to return with a non-displaced fracture in his leg, has been working with trainers this week but hasn’t yet practice with the team even though he’s allowed.

“I don’t know,” Daniels said when asked about the chances of being able to play against the Jaguars. “I haven’t been running with my 100 percent body weight yet. I’d like to do that for at least a little bit and get a practice or two in where I feel comfortable going out and playing. I don’t want to rush anything or get back in there too fast and possibly hurt something else. I want to make sure I’m fully and able to go out there.”

Daniels has been working in the weight room and running on the anti-gravity treadmill but without full practices, he isn’t sure when he’ll be ready.

Another problem is that the Texans play this Sunday, then have a quick turnaround to play on the road on Thursday. That means not a lot of practice time, which would have been very important for Daniels.

Still, he isn’t willing to rule anything out. He’s in a wait-and-see mode.

"It’s a tough turnaround," he said. "If I was going to play Thursday, it’d be tough just because I haven’t had that type of feel, just practicing with the guys, catching some balls with Case and actually going full speed. A Sunday game would definitely help with the extra days and actual practices going on. I’m not going to rule anything out, I’m just going to keep going with the plan."
