Comcast SportsNet Houston has confirmed a report that Houston Texans defensive tackle Shaun Cody suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung.

"He’s doing better," head coach Gary Kubiak said on Wednesday. "It’s going to be a day-to-day deal. Basically, it’s getting the soreness back out of him, getting to where he can get back out there and function."

Cody might be able to play with the injury, but Kubiak said it will be a "weekend decision." That was before the extent of the injury was known.

The Houston Chronicle's Tania Ganguli first reported the injury.

Cody is in his eighth year in the NFL and in his fourth with the Texans. He has eight tackles in eight games in 2012.
