Left tackle Duane Brown and inside linebacker Brian Cushing both participated in the Texans’ light practice on Wednesday.

Brown has missed the last two games with turf toe and Cushing exited Sunday’s game early with a concussion.

“A big step in the right direction but he’s still day-to-day,” head coach Gary Kubiak said of Brown, who participated in everything in Wednesday’s “jog-through” practice.

While Cushing participated in practice, Kubiak said the linebacker probably won’t pass the NFL’s concussion protocol until around Friday.

Starting right guard Brandon Brooks missed Wednesday’s practice with a toe injury. Kubiak was unsure of Brooks’ status for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Linebacker Tim Dobbins also missed practice with injury.

Johnathan Joseph, Greg Jones, Owen Daniels and Andre Johnson all had rest days on Wednesday.
