Astros outfielder was a late scratch to Monday’s game with the Diamondbacks because of soreness in his right knee that’s been bothering him.
“He could have played,” Astros manager Bo Porter said after the game. “But at the same time, when we think about it, it’s do you want to risk anything further happening so he could get treatment today.
Porter did not give a timetable on Springer’s return, saying his condition was considered day to day.
Springer missed two games back in May after straining his hip flexor trying to dive back to first base on a pickoff attempt. Since his return to the lineup, the Astros have won 12 of 16 games.
