Top prospect George Springer is among the latest group named for Astros' minor league awards.
The outfielder was named the organization's Player of the Month at the Triple-A level. In July, Springer hit .347 with nine home runs, 27 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. He's the only player in professional baseball to have at least 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases so far this season. OKC's Pitcher of the Month is Asher Wojciechowski. The righthander went 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in four July starts.
At Double-A, David Martinez won his second consecutive Pitcher of the Month award. In July, he went 3-0 with a 1.95 ERA. Martinez now has season totals of 13 wins with a 2.01 ERA. Corpus' Player of the Month for July is Max Stassi. The catcher powered it up last month, slamming 11 home runs with 24 RBI in 24 games.
At Class-A Lancaster, Tommy Shirley won Pitcher of the Month honors for a solid July in which he went 1-1 with a 2.89 ERA. Player of the Month Matt Duffy hit .363 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in his 27 July games.
Jordan Jankowski was named Pitcher of the Month for Class-A Quad Cities after walking just one batter in July. Rio Ruiz won Quad Cities Player of the Month by driving in 15 runs in 23 July contests.
At Class-A Short Season Tri-City, Michael Feliz won Pitcher of the Month for his 1.74 July ERA. Player of the Month honors went to recent fifth-round pick Tony Kemp. The infielder stole eight bases in July.
At rookie-level Greeneville, Frederick Tiburcio won Pitcher of the Month. Juan Santana won Player of the Month.
Gulf Coast League Astros Pitcher-of-the-Month honors went to righty Troy Scribner. Yonathan Mejia's .376 July average earned him GCL Astros Player of the Month.
And for the DSL Astros, Harold Arauz was the team's Pitcher of the Month. Luis Ayano was named their Player of the Month.
