Bo Porter sees no reason for his faith in Matt Dominguez to waver after a three-error night by the third baseman.
Prior to Thursday, Dominguez was the top fielding third baseman in baseball with only one error and a .990 fielding percentage. Then, Thursday happened and throws that seemed routine normally ended up sailing on him.
But Porter didn't see this as a time for a mental or physical break. Dominguez's name was right back in Friday's starting lineup at the hot corner. Porter said he talked to his starting third baseman about Thursday's defensive off night.
"I said the odds of me pulling out of the garage again and it snowing is just as good as the odds of you making three errors in a game again," Porter said. "So I have no doubt that thing was just... it's part of the game. It can happen to the best of them. It's just a prime example of no matter how good you are, you can make errors."
