For Jon Singleton and George Springer, their fathers will always occupy a major part of their hearts.
Singleton's father, Herb, was a quarterback at Oregon and also made it to the NFL. Jon, however, was steered to baseball.
"He definitely had a huge impact," Singleton said. "He's the person taking me to all my games and pretty much taught me the game of baseball.
"We used to just go to the park and just hit baseballs all day. That was my childhood, for the most part."
For Springer, feeling how proud his father is of him stands out.
"He's everything," the rookie outfielder said. "Obviously, I could say the same about my mom, but just having that fatherly guy just to hang around with. He is always extremely positive. I talk with him every day.
"He's always just said how proud he is," Springer added. "Sometimes, he'll say stop hitting the ball at somebody or something like that, but he's always extremely positive. He's my dad. He always just says how proud he is. For me, that's obviously something special."
