Luhnow on Gonzalez, LeBlanc moves
The Astros announced Monday that Marwin Gonzalez has been optioned to Triple-A and Wade LeBlanc has been designated for assignment. Corresponding roster moves to fill their spots will be made on Tuesday.
Gonzalez has played in 54 games with the Astros this year, including 50 starts. In those 54 games, he hit .230 with four home runs and 14 RBI, 21 runs, and five stolen bases.
The Astros had claimed LeBlanc off waivers from Miami on June 8. In three games with the Astros, LeBlanc gave up four earned runs in just under four innings. He had three walks, one strikeout, and a 9.82 ERA in those games. Overall, in 16 games this year with both Miami and Houston, including seven starts, LeBlanc had a 1-5 record with a 5.50 ERA.
After the LeBlanc move, the Astros now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
