Philip Humber has cleared waivers and is headed to the Astros' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City.
Humber was designated for assignment last Sunday after going 0-8 with a 9.59 ERA in nine appearances, including seven starts. Humber did start the season well. He made the Astros' starting rotation out of spring training.
Despite losing his first three starts, the former Rice Owl fashioned a 2.89 ERA over that stretch. From there, though, it was downhill. The righty gave up 13 earned runs over his final six innings.
